About Us
Yotta Energy is transforming the energy storage industry with modular, intelligent battery solutions for commercial solar. We’re a fast-moving, well-funded startup, and our small, passionate team thrives on collaboration, ownership, and building hardware that makes a real impact.

About the Role
We’re looking for an Engineering Technician with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to support both mechanical and electrical aspects of hardware development. This includes mechanical assemblies, soldering and rework, electrical test setups, instrumentation, and hands-on battery assembly support.
In this role, you’ll work closely with senior mechanical/electrical engineers, manufacturing technicians, and assembly teams—gaining exposure to battery system design, electrical test methods, DFM principles, energy storage safety practices, and new product introduction (NPI).
This role is perfect for someone early in their career who wants to build, iterate, test, learn, and grow alongside a team developing real hardware.

What You’ll Do
Mechanical + Hardware Design Support
  • Assist with creating and updating SolidWorks 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings for components used in battery modules and mechanical sub-systems.
  • Assist with the design of production jigs, fixtures, and assembly aids that improve manufacturability, safety, and repeatability.
  • Support OPS and production techs during battery assembly by troubleshooting mechanical issues and validating mechanical fits/tolerances.
  • Assist with DFM (design for manufacturing) recommendations and participate in design reviews.
  • Help execute mechanical test setups, dimensional checks, and component evaluations.
  • Help maintain BOMs, drawing revisions, and documentation in collaboration with the engineering team.
  • Support prototype builds, pilot runs, and continuous improvement during low-volume production.
Battery Assembly & Electrical Test Support
  • Assemble and support battery module/pack builds, including wiring harnesses, busbars, connectors, fasteners, and insulation components.
  • Perform soldering and rework on cables, PCBs, and low-voltage harnesses.
  • Configure electrical test setups involving power supplies, multimeters, battery top balancing stations, temperature chambers, electronic loads, and data acquisition equipment.
  • Set up and validate sensors—thermocouples, voltage taps, current probes, and safety interlocks.
  • Execute basic test protocols (capacity tests, cycling, thermal checks) under engineer guidance.
  • Troubleshoot wiring errors, test setup issues, measurement inconsistencies, or hardware defects.
  • Follow safe handling procedures for lithium-ion batteries and high-voltage systems.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Lab Support
  • Work cross-functionally with hardware engineering, OPS, and quality to drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a clean, organized lab and ensure proper tool and equipment use.
  • Document test results, build notes, and configuration changes.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to clarify drawings, tolerances, manufacturability, and part feasibility.

What We’re Looking For
  • 1–4+ years of engineering technician or mechanical/electrical engineering experience (internships included).
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (parts, assemblies, configurations, drawings, GD&T basics).
  • Comfortable with fabrication methods such as 3D printing, machining basics, sheet metal, or fixture building.
  • Hands-on experience assisting with mechanical or electrical assemblies.
  • Comfortable using calipers, torque tools, measurement equipment, and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Basic understanding of electrical concepts (voltage, current, polarity) and safe handling of batteries.
  • Ability to work on the production line or in test labs, understanding basic production engineering workflows.
Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience with battery modules/packs, BMS harnessing, or electronics packaging.
  • Experience with test equipment such as power supplies, loads, oscilloscopes, or battery cyclers.
  • Ability to build custom cables, harnesses, or simple test fixtures.
  • Exposure to DFM, tolerance stacks, FMEA, or similar engineering fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with high-voltage lab safety or lithium-ion safety protocols.
  • Experience with startups, fast-paced hardware environments, or prototyping labs.
  • Experience designing or building fixtures/jigs for assembly.
