Position Summary The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
This role oversees quality activities across product design, manufacturing, installation, and customer support while driving continuous improvement initiatives and supplier quality performance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in quality engineering, root cause analysis, supplier quality management, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Quality Management System
Develop, implement, maintain, and audit the Quality Management System (QMS)
Ensure compliance with applicable ISO standards and customer requirements
Coordinate internal and external quality audits
Provide training and guidance on quality policies, procedures, and best practices
Continuous Improvement
Lead Lean Six Sigma initiatives to improve product quality and operational efficiency
Facilitate continuous improvement projects across manufacturing and business processes
Analyze quality metrics, scrap rates, and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) data
Drive corrective and preventive actions to improve performance
Problem Solving & Corrective Action
Lead investigations using 8D, DMAIC, 5 Why, Fishbone, and other root cause analysis tools
Manage customer complaints and coordinate containment activities
Oversee corrective action implementation and verification of effectiveness
Support Return Material Authorization (RMA) activities and product containment processes
Supplier Quality Management
Qualify, evaluate, and approve new suppliers
Conduct supplier audits and assessments using ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards
Monitor supplier performance through KPIs, defect rates, and audit findings
Develop supplier scorecards and improvement plans
Review and approve PPAP documentation and supplier quality deliverables
Product & Process Quality
Support APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and First Article Inspections
Participate in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Quality (DFQ) reviews
Validate supplier readiness for production launches
Ensure products meet customer specifications and reliability requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering within a manufacturing environment
Experience with Quality Management Systems and ISO standards
Experience conducting supplier audits and managing supplier quality performance
Strong background in root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies
Preferred Qualifications
ASQ Quality Engineer Certification or equivalent
Six Sigma Green Belt certification
Experience with electronics manufacturing, metal fabrication, plastic injection molding, or painting processes
